The decision to change the organization’s name from The American Academy of Medical Hypnoanalysts to The American Academy of Clinical Hypnoanalysts stems from a desire to accurately reflect the composition and professional backgrounds of its members. Although there are no longer a majority of medical doctors within the organization, the term “medical” in the previous name might have created confusion or misrepresentation. By adopting the name “Clinical Hypnoanalysts,” the organization aims to emphasize the expertise and qualifications of its members in the field of clinical hypnoanalysis and ethical counseling practices, irrespective of their medical background. This change aligns the organization’s name more closely with the actual composition and expertise of its membership, fostering clear communication and understanding among both professionals and the public.
